Dear all,
Further to the call for expressions about the above, the Internet2 has
expressed an interest in working with the DLF and within the framework
outlined in the call to develop a metadata harvesting service that exposes
broadband application content (e.g. film, video, sound, live performance,
etc.) for educational and research purposes.
In this respect, one can envisage, for example, a service that supports both
scholarly and "applied" aspects of any of the performing arts by integrating
access to bibliographical, recorded and other information objects including
network-broadcast performance.
This development be of particular to DLF members who are thinking about
exposing metadata for broad band application content or developing
appropriate components for such a harvesting service. Such members are
encouraged to contact Ted Hanss,
Director, Applications Development, Internet2 ([log in to unmask]) or me
([log in to unmask]) before 4 August 2001.
Kind regards,
Dan
