Members who read this list may be aware of the work the DLF has done on
certificate-based authentication. You will certainly be aware of the
widespread library interest in work in this area.
Substantial progress is now coming out of the joint Educause Net@edu and
Internet2 middleware, directories and public key infrastructure efforts on
EDUPERSON. Ken Klingenstein gave a talk on this work at the recent DLF
Forum and asked expressly for comment on the work from the digital library
community.
This effort is now nearing a "version 1.0" status, and the most recent
revisions have just been posted to the Educause site, at
http://www.educause.edu/eduperson .
The work is moving according to a very tight timetable, so comments in the
next few weeks are eagerly being sought. These can be supplied by you
direct to the editors who are listed on the above web page. I'd also be
interested to learn whether it would be worth formulating a DLF response in
addition.
Kind regards,
Dan
