The DLF recently nominated a representative to the Z39.50 implementers group
(ZIG) meetings in the guise of distinguished fellow, Denise Troll (CMU).
Denise's report on the ZIG meeting in Decmeber is now available from:
http://www.clir.org/diglib/architectures/zig0012.htm
By way of introducing the report, Denise writes:
"Digital libraries were a topic of discussion at the recent Z39.50
Implementers Group (ZIG) meeting. Speakers at the digital library session
addressed issues and concerns that digital library and other development
communities have about Z39.50. The ZIG will continue to address these
issues in subsequent meetings and envisions substantial changes to the
Z39.50 to make the standard Web friendly, easier to implement and
interoperable with other evolving standards important to developers of
digital libraries and archives."
