Dear friends,
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is seeking proposals for "a web-based
Public Access Computing Portal... focused on content, communication
vehicles, and tools useful in public access computing. This Portal should
build upon the Foundation's current Libraries and Public Access to
Comnputing program, which is providing computers, Internet connections, and
training to over 11,000 public libraries and other public access computing
facilities throughout the United States and Canada.
The Portal is envisioned as a community resource for all those involved in
public access computing; a place to find, contribute, and share information
and assets of use in this environment. As such, the audience will range
widely, from the users of public access computers, to the administrators of
those computers, to providers of services and resources for the public
access community as a whole"
