CDL Digital Special Collections seeks a Programmer Analyst to
participate in a team responsible for the design and maintenance
of web sites and other systems that help manage digital special
collections at the California Digital Library, including the Online
Archive of California, the UC Image Service, and Calisphere.
Located in downtown Oakland at the UC Office of the President, the
California Digital Library (CDL) is a collaborative effort of the
University of California designed to enable UC's libraries to
continue to meet the informational needs of UC's faculty and students
in the 21st century. The CDL assumes a leadership role in providing
digital content to the citizens of the State, develops systems that
encourage resource sharing, and provides for a focus for the
development of strategies and initiatives that guide the University's
libraries through the transition to the digital future.
The Digital Special Collections Program creates and manages a diverse
range of curated collections that embody the CDLs commitment to
public service. These digitized images and documents -- including
photographs, artwork, maps, books, newspaper clippings, transcribed
oral histories, political cartoons, and much more -- are drawn from
the collections of the libraries and museums of the 10 UC campuses,
and from other cultural heritage organizations and government
sources.
