presentations by the same speaker. The December 1st session will
take place both in real life (RL) at UCLA and in Second Life (SL).
The December 2d presentation will take place only in RL at UCLA. SL

DECEMBER 1ST
We are happy to announce the 3d of 9 Mellon Seminars in Digital Humanities
taking place at UCLA in RL, and "broadcast" via live feed into the Digital
Library Federation's (DLF) <http://www.diglib.org/> SL island, Entropia. The
RL participants will also see the SL audience, projected on a screen in the
RL room at UCLA.
These Seminars, organized by Jeffrey Schnapp (Stanford) and Todd Presner
(UCLA) will take place at intervals during the 2008/2009 academic year. To

Lev Manovich will give a public lecture, titled "Understanding Metamedia,"
from 12-2 PM on December 2nd in 236 Royce Hall. This talk will follow his
presentation at the previous day's Mellon Seminar in Digital Humanities on
Software Studies. We look forward to an interesting presentation, and we
