Greetings,
Thanks to all of you who provided feedback on the revised "TEI Text
Encoding in Libraries: Guidelines for Best Encoding Practices." We
collected lots of great feedback via email, survey form and in-person
that we discussed and prioritized as part of a TEI SIG on Libraries
meeting sponsored by the Digital Library Federation (DLF) on May 6,
2009 in Raleigh, North Carolina. As a result, we plan to address most
of the comments we received as part of the feedback process.
One of the more notable changes is the renaming of the document to a
shorter, less confusing form: "Best Practices for TEI in Libraries."
We removed "Guidelines" from the title so not to confuse this document
in any way with the official TEI Guidelines. Overall the title is no
longer redundant, confusing or unnecessarily long :-).
The Best Practices Working Group is currently undergoing a final
revision of the Best Practices for submission to the TEI-C for vetting
by end of summer. We hope to unveil the latest version of the Best
Practices at the 2009 TEI Members' Meeting in Ann Arbor, Michigan this
coming November. So stay tuned!
Thanks again,
Michelle Dalmau
Co-convener, TEI SIG on Libraries
P.S. For those of you interested, we were able to post notes of our
"in-person" feedback session that took place as part of the Birds-of-a-
Feather session at the DLF Spring Forum on May 5, 2009 in Raleigh,
North Carolina: <http://wiki.tei-c.org/index.php/DLF_Spring_2009_Forum_BoF_Session_Minutes
