The next ORCID participant meeting will be held on May 18 at Harvard. Please register if you would like to attend (registration is free).
ORCID (Open Researcher & Participant ID) is partnership among universities, publishers, funding bodies and other organizations in the scholarly communications space. It aims to solve the name (author, grantee, etc) ambiguity problem in attribution of scholarship-a problem that can only be solved collaboratively, when all stakeholders agree on a standard identification scheme. ORCID is currently creating a central registry of unique identifiers for individual researchers and an open and transparent linking mechanism between ORCID and other identifiers.
