CLIR/DLF Postdoctoral Fellowships in Data Curation for the Sciences and Social Sciences
Deadline for Proposals: October 1, 2012
CLIR is seeking institutional partners to host six new postdoctoral fellows in data curation beginning in summer 2013. Each fellow will hold a two-year appointment in which he or she will work on the development and provision of data curation services to researchers in the sciences and social sciences as directed by the host. Pending continued funding by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, CLIR will provide half the fellows' salaries and a portion of the fringe benefit costs, as well as provide fellows with relevant education and training and some research and travel support.
Prospective partners must respond to CLIR's request for proposals from potential hosts by October 1, 2012 to be considered. A review panel of knowledgeable professionals will evaluate all proposals and select six finalist institutions. Interested hosts who are not selected to participate this year may be invited to advertise their fellowship position through the program while pursuing alternative funding methods.
Selected institutions will be notified on or before November 1, 2012. Recruitment for applicants for these fellowships will begin immediately thereafter and continue until positions are filled. All candidates for fellowships must have earned a PhD in a relevant science or social science discipline between April 1, 2008 and June 30, 2013. Fellowship applicants will be required to complete CLIR’s online application for postdoctoral fellowships, which will be open from October to December, 2012.
Proposals from partnerships or consortia are welcome; however, no single institution will be permitted to receive support for more than one fellowship. Current hosts of CLIR/DLF Postdoctoral Fellows in Data Curation are ineligible for consideration.
Before submitting a proposal, aspiring hosts should consult job descriptions for the 2012-2014 CLIR/DLF Postdoctoral Fellowships in Data Curation, at http://www.clir.org/fellowships/datacuration
