Reporting directly to the University Librarian and working with a team of senior leaders, program directors and staff, the Associate University Librarian, Scholarly Resources and Services (AUL, SRS) role is charged with providing leadership for the Library’s and University’s vision to be a student-centered, research-focused, service-oriented public university. The successful candidate will be a leader capable of connecting Library strategic priorities with campus initiatives and possess expertise in scholarly resources and cross-campus partnerships for support of research and research data. Ideal candidates bring a commitment to advancing equity, diversity and inclusion across the Library and University.

The AUL, SRS leads the Library’s investments in scholarly resources and services oriented around the research lifecycle. The AUL, SRS is responsible for providing leadership in information resource acquisition and access, digital conversion and preservation and services in support of research including scholarly communications, collections/special collections, research methods, and tools in support of scholarship. The AUL, SRS is a leader of and participant in the Library’s matrixed advisory structure which supports cross-program and library-wide communication, collaboration and initiatives. Working closely with senior Library and campus leaders, the AUL, SRS provides leadership in strategies and tactics to ensure that our investments in information resources, infrastructure and research services achieve outcomes aligned with campus priorities. Additionally, the AUL, SRS has an active role in strategic planning and development activities across the Library and coordinates with other UC San Diego offices focused on research support services.

The AUL, SRS will lead and support six programs: (1) Collection Development and Management (2) Content Acquisition and Resource Sharing (3) Metadata Services (4) Scholarship Tools and Methods (5) Special Collections and Archives (6) Research Data Curation.

Working with a team of program directors, the AUL, SRS is responsible for designing and implementing strategies that provide access to academically-focused information resources and tools as well as extend the impact of research at UC San Diego. The AUL, SRS will provide leadership to advance UC San Diego’s commitment to the preservation and dissemination of research output. Through these efforts, the AUL SRS will support Library strategic priorities including student and faculty success, research and learning support, a place for community and extension of the impact of research at UC San Diego. The AUL, SRS accomplishes this through collaboration across the Library, UC San Diego and the UC system and through direct leadership of programs focused on research and learning support. The AUL will have an opportunity to lead new and restructured Library programs and foster connections across programs that will build a coherent suite of information and public services and a flexible, responsive framework for continuous adaptation to user needs.

Additionally, to foster the best possible working and learning environment, all library staff at UC San Diego strive to cultivate a rich and diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and those with disabilities. For more information, please review the UC San Diego Principles of Community [https://ucsd.edu/about/principles.html]. We also encourage the opportunity to build a network of peers that share your similar passions and interests through the UCSD Staff Associations network. https://blink.ucsd.edu/HR/services/associations/index.html
