This new tenure-track position will provide outreach and equitable access to library services and resources to all NYU online users, students and faculty, including all constituents at NYU’s Global Academic Centers. This position is reopened and reimagined in response to a resulting shift to library instruction and course integration in a highly remote environment. It will feature an instructional design component that focuses on designing and creating online instructional objects that will support the growing online environment emerging throughout NYU and the anticipated needs of NYU students and faculty engaged in online learning, as well as our partners located at NYU’s global campuses. This position will also coordinate closely with the Libraries’ subject liaisons, the NYU Libraries User Experience department, NYU Libraries Access, Delivery & Resource Sharing Services, directors of NYU online programs, NYU Libraries and campus information technology, and campus-wide instructional technologists. This newly created position is located in the Undergraduate and Instructional Services (UIS) Department and reports to the Head of UIS.

This position will be conducted remotely through Fall 2020; the successful candidate will be expected to move within commuting distance of the NYU New York City campus.
Develop and maintain partnerships within NYU Libraries, Office of Online Programs, Office of Global Programs, and across NYU’s departmental and administrative programs in support of library online learning
Create, distribute, and assess online library teaching and learning services and objects for all NYU online programs and global campuses and users
Coordinate formal and informal instruction and information literacy programs for distance library users and global campuses in conjunction with UIS, IT, Libraries UX, and subject liaisons
Provide guidance for the design, development, and coordination of library workshops regarding the use of library resources and services to support students, faculty, and staff
Coordinate with campus partners to embed digital library resources and support within campus learning management system
Advise on content development for reference, instruction, user information, and access services
Ensure usability and accessibility standards within all online teaching and learning services and objects through the application of Universal Design for Learning principles
Monitor trends in emerging technologies and web services
Determine impact of technology-based services on library users and work with User Experience department to apply data and user-driven solutions and services
Contribute to general instruction and reference initiatives and services, both in person and online
Contribute to state, regional, and national committees and participate in research, publication, and other professional and scholarly activities
Incorporate strategies of inclusion, diversity, belonging, and equity into instruction services

Minimum one graduate degree (master’s level or higher) for consideration. A second graduate degree will be required to be eligible for tenure. One of the two graduate degrees must be an ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent.
Possess technology skills, expertise, and working knowledge of online teaching and learning tools, emerging technologies, and infographic software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Camtasia, Kaltura, Canva, Articulate, video and audio creation/editing programs)
Possess teaching, program management, communication, and interpersonal skills
Possess knowledge of current and emerging issues, practices, trends, and technologies that support blended and online teaching and learning in academic library and/or university environments
Experience planning, implementing, and assessing effective online programs, complex projects, and online services
Ability to understand, anticipate, and respond to priorities and trends in the library and university environments regarding traditional and online instruction
Possess creative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Proficiency with PC, Apple, and open source platforms
Ability to meet the library’s tenure requirements for scholarship, service, and leadership
A second advanced degree in education, instructional design, educational technology, or related field
Experience with learning management systems (e.g., Sakai, Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle)
Experience with usability and user feedback, and knowledge of user experience literature
Familiarity or experience with instructional technology as related to online learning and accessibility standards (e.g., Universal Design for Learning 0principles)
Experience working in a culturally diverse environment
Record of professional activities, including research and engagement in professional organizations
