We’re seeking survey respondents for a research study on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in library tools and services. The purpose of this research study is to understand how AI is currently being implemented by library vendors—including its impact on product design, pricing models, acquisition methods, and ethical considerations such as data privacy and intellectual property—and whether these tools are opt-in or automatically deployed. On the library side, the study explores organizational and library-level policies on AI, available funding, evaluation and adoption practices, and staff preparedness for AI training and implementation. We welcome responses from all types of libraries (academic, public, special, archives, etc.). By gathering perspectives from both vendors and libraries, this research aims to identify points of alignment and tension between vendor offerings and library priorities, ultimately informing more effective and ethical adoption of AI in library settings.
The findings from the survey will be used in a conference presentation and subsequent research article on AI Integration in Libraries.
We anticipate that the survey will take no more than 15 minutes with mostly multiple choice questions. The survey will be open until Friday, October 31, 2025.
Please review the Informed Consent on the first page of the survey, which provides details about our research project, your rights as a participant, and options to complete the survey.
