Hi, Everyone.
Please consider this invite and "save the date" for a shared event with Research Libraries UK in late October. This is building from our successful collaborations with the RLUK folks in the past. This year’s meeting will explore the topic of “Co-existing with AI Bots and Models: Tensions in supporting Open Access and Data infrastructures”.

About this Event
Following last year’s RLUK/DLF event on Adversarial AI, this year we ask the question “How can we co-exist with AI bots and Models?”
Our speakers will reflect on the impact of having responsible AI policy on GLAM content access, the rise in traffic of AI bots, and the new skills and roles which are emerging. Topics and discussion will include:
- How is GenAI impacting our Open Access ethos and ecosystem?
- Capacity / staffing questions
- Where is the “new” hidden work?
- Technical vs Functional challenges
- Supporting the NEW architecture (human and computer consumables)
“Co-existing with AI Bots and Models" will include speakers from across the US and UK research library and information communities
- Nick Shockey, Associate Executive Director, SPARC, USA
- Rosalyn Metz, Chief Technology Officer, Emory Libraries and Museum
- Tuan Pham, Digital Transformation Programme Director at Cambridge University Library
Potential breakout topics for this session include the impact of AI new staff skills and capabilities (opportunities and gaps) the tension between our Open ethos and the AI tech giants
It will also include opportunities to meet with fellow professionals, share skills and knowledge, hear from skills experts, and receive updates regarding the continued collaboration between the Data and Digital Scholarship working group (DDS) and Digital Scholarship Network (DSN).
When: Tuesday 28 October 12:00–13:30 EDT, 09:00–10:30 PDT (16:00 – 17:30 GMT)
Where: This will be a virtual event held via Zoom.
