The National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program (NDIIPP) at the U.S. Library of Congress has published "It's About Time: Research Challenges in Digital Archiving and Long-term Preservation." The report presents findings from a joint Library of Congress/National Science Foundation workshop on research challenges in digital preservation. Margaret Hedstrom chaired the workshop, which was attended by experts from government, academia, professional organizations, and the private sector. As detailed in the published report, the workshop identified a number of priority areas for research into new models, methodologies, and tools for long-term preservation of digital material. The report is available on the NDIIPP web site at http://www.digitalpreservation.gov/index.php?nav=3&subnav=11.
