Indiana University (IU) and the University of Illinois,
Urbana-Champaign(UIUC) invite you to a workshop, "Developing a Digital
Libraries Education Program," to be held on Tuesday, June 7, from
8:30-5:00, at the Joint Conference on Digital Libraries (JCDL) in Denver,
Colorado. IU and UIUC have recently received funding from the Institute
of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to create the first research-based,
comprehensive master's-level and post-MLS degrees to educate librarians
for work in digital library programs in libraries and archives. Five
other universities also received IMLS grants to work on various aspects of
education for digital librarianship. This workshop is the first of three
annual events designed to bring together the IMLS-grant recipients,
digital library professionals, and faculty in schools of library and
information science to discuss issues and explore solutions. The morning
session will feature researchers from the institutions that received IMLS
funding, presenting project overviews and status reports. The afternoon
will feature prominent digital library professionals and library and
information science faculty covering various topics related to digital
library education.

The early registration cost of the workshop is $140 for members of ACM,
SIGWEB, SIGIR, IEEE TCDL, ASIS&T, and ALA/MLA/SLA. The cost for non
member is $175; early registration ends May 16. The late/on site cost of
registration is $190 and $225. The workshop will accommodate up to 40
participants so please register early. For more information and
registration, visit the JCDL2005 web site: http://www.jcdl2005.org
