ARCHIVES OF TRADITIONAL MUSIC, INDIANA UNIVERSITY RESEARCH ASSOCIATE RSS The EVIA Digital Archive Project seeks a Sustainability Investigator who will conduct research in the area of project sustainability and will coordinate the work of consultants in the areas of marketing, usability, and business planning. The Sustainability Investigator is a new position that will be devoted full time to the task of coordinating the creation of the many layers of a sustainability plan for a large digital video preservation and access grant project. Working closely with the project's Executive Investigator, the SI will coordinate the development of survey instruments for potential users and audiences; coordinate the creation of a business plan; coordinate usability studies of existing project tools; coordinate development of access and distribution plans; work with the Co-Principal Investigators to establish institutional partnerships and support; and conduct research on other projects and programs in order to create viable sustainability plans for the EVIA Digital Archive Project. The EVIA Digital Archive is a joint project of Indiana University and the University of Michigan to establish a digital archive of ethnomusicological video for use by scholars and instructors, and is currently in a development phase funded by the Mellon Foundation. Support includes a Graduate Assistant. This is a 1 year position. Qualifications: A Master's degree. Demonstrated experience with digital media technologies, experience with business models, experience with usability evaluation, and an understanding of marketing and market research is important. Experience in publishing, libraries, or archives is welcome. Candidate need not have a degree in a technical field, but must be capable of understanding a complex technology project. Excellent communication skills; excellent listening and problem-solving skills; and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population are necessary. Candidate needs to be able to work as part of team that includes academics and technologists. Must be able to analyze data of various kinds and distill them into plans and recommendations. Ability to travel is necessary.
