DIGITAL PROJECT MANAGEMENT BASICS - CALL FOR TRAINERS

The Library of Congress and the Association for Library Collections & Technical
Services (ALCTS) is seeking trainers for a new training initiative.

BACKGROUND

In November 2000, the Bicentennial Conference on Bibliographic Control for the
New Millennium was held to bring together authorities in the cataloging and
metadata communities to discuss outstanding issues involving improved discovery
and access to Web resources. One resulting recommendation was the development
of training and continuing education to improve bibliographic control of
selected Web resources. The Cataloger's Learning Workshop (CLW) has been
established as a clearinghouse for cataloging and metadata training. 'Digital
Project Management Basics' is the last of five workshops developed to support
the goal of improving bibliographic control of Web resources. Information about
CLW is available at: <http://www.loc.gov/catworkshop/>

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

'Digital Project Management Basics' is a one-day workshop with the goal of
preparing attendees to serve as project leaders and team members in digital
library projects.  Topics covered include:

* Creating a project management roadmap
* Collaboration and team building
* Grant writing and development of a feasible work plan
* Project assessment

A more detailed outline of the workshop is available at:

INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR

trainers to deliver 'Digital Project Management Basics' in a classroom setting.

be designated as CLW trainers for this workshop.

The first offering of the workshop is December 8th (the day prior to the
