Integrated Library System Administrator (Senior Information Technology
Specialist)
Hennepin County Library, Minnetonka, MN
Closing Date/Time: Mon. 11/26/07 5:00 PM Central Time
Salary: $48,235.20 - $72,009.60 annually
Location: 12601 Ridgedale Drive, Minnetonka, Minnesota

This is a full-time position in the Integrated Library System (ILS)
section of the Library's Resource Services Division. The ILS section
manages, maintains, develops, supports, and provides training for the
Library's integrated library system.

The Hennepin County Library System <http://www.hclib.org/> currently
serves over 750,000 residents of suburban Hennepin County through 26
libraries, two Children's Readmobiles, Outreach services and extensive
services on the web. Consistently rated as one of the top large public
libraries in county, the Library is very heavily used with an annual
circulation of over 13 million.

In May 2007, the Minnesota Legislature passed legislation that would
allow the consolidation of Hennepin County Library and Minneapolis
Public Library <http://www.mplib.org/> systems. The target date for
merging the two systems, pending final approval, is January 1, 2008. The
combined system would have 41 libraries (including the new Minneapolis
Central Library) and would serve all of Hennepin County's 1.1 million
residents. The combined collection would have more than 5 million items
and represent over 1.2 million titles. Efforts to establish a fully
integrated library system would begin upon consolidation. Complete
merger <http://www.hclib.org/merger/> details are available on the
Hennepin County Library website.

In 2002, Integrated Library Systems and Web Services staff began
extensively customizing the Library's online catalog
<https://catalog.hclib.org/ipac20/ipac.jsp?profile=elibrary> outside
the confines of vendor support. The resulting integration of the catalog
with the rest of the Library's web-based services has provided a model
for successful in-house development of ILS features and functionality.
In early 2008, ILS staff will develop a list of requirements for the
system that will replace the current SirsiDynix Horizon system and
initiate investigations into the alternatives with the goal of system
replacement in 2010 or 2011.

Primary duties/responsibilities include:
* Configure and maintain Integrated Library System software
