Position Announcement JOB TITLE: Archivists' Toolkit Programmer Support Specialist www.auctr.edu The Robert W. Woodruff Library of the Atlanta University Center, Inc. is an organization undergoing dynamic transformation and is poised for excellence. Our uniqueness among academic libraries is our service to four historically black institutions in the Atlanta University Center – Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Spelman College, and the Interdenominational Theological Center. The Library serves nearly 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students and has a collection of 1 million items in various formats including a special collections and archives department rich in African American materials. The Library is a member of ARCHE, SOLINET, OCLC, HBCU Library Alliance, and a participant of the Georgia state network, GALILEO The Robert W. Woodruff Library of the Atlanta University seeks an energetic and experienced, individual to fill the position of Archivists' Toolkit Programmer Support Specialist. The program support specialist will work with the Morehouse College Martin Luther King Jr. project staff and developers at other sites to identify and investigate software bugs and develop relevant software fixes for the open source application, Archivists' Toolkit. The specialist will report findings to the Archivists' Toolkit development community. In addition, the specialist will assist in the creation of a collaborative website for the Morehouse College Martin Luther King Jr. Collection, linking the collection finding aid through appropriate search technologies to other repositories containing collection information related to Martin Luther King Jr. The Specialist will report to the library's Chief Information Officer. Appointment is full-time for 12 months and grant funded through a library grant. REQUIREMENTS: · Implementation, upgrade, maintenance, and problem resolution of the Archivists' Toolkit open source software · Design, implement, and support software solutions for internal and external customers using current technologies such as Java, J2EE, C and Perl in a Windows, Linux and Solaris based environment. · Creation and maintenance of a web interface for the Morehouse College Martin Luther King Jr. Collection and collaborative · Make recommendations to open source community on fixes for Archivists' Toolkit QUALIFICATIONS · Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent experience · Strong Java skills and object oriented design experience, including working knowledge of core libraries, design patterns, JSP, JDBC and servlets · Experience in database design and website creation and maintenance · Experience with Apache, MySQL, Oracle and PHP · Experience with Javascript, and/or SOAP · Experience with Eclipse, Net Beans · Knowledge of session management, object relational mapping, XML web services, and agile development methodologies · Knowledge of encoded archival description (EAD), MARCXML, and METS, MODS and Dublin Core desirable · Experience with report writing SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience; comprehensive benefits package include medical, dental, vision, life, company paid disability plans, dollar per dollar company match retirement plan (TIAA-CREF).
