Electronic Library Technician
Job
Description:
Responsible
for supporting the Electronic Library System Manager by operating the
Government provided ADP resources designated to support the electronic and
other libraries, coordinating ADP user access procedures to the basic computer
systems supporting the electron libraries, and maintaining the electronic
libraries on-line electronic bulletin board system and full text electronic
search and retrieval library to include database operations, software updating
and modifications. Responsible for installing Government provided ADP system
software modifications and upgrades. Analyses and monitors electronic library
ADP system availability to the users; notifies the JE Computer Security Officer
(CSO) when ADP resources become inadequate to meet users access and processing
requirements. Work includes classifying, cataloguing, converting, and storing
media (PC cards and storage disks, CD/DVD-ROM, magnetic tapes, floppy disks, or
equivalent document storage media); retrieving and releasing media for
processing upon request; and maintaining records of document releases,
arrivals, and returns. Prepares, compiles, edits, and proofs technical
documents. Produces quarterly summary documentation which may be electronic
that summarized the contents of the technical library. This position is
an IMMEDIATE fill.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelor
of Science degree from an accredited college or university in Computer System
Analysis, Information Systems Management, or Computer Science and on-hands
experience and working knowledge in BBS operation and management; or no
degree and three (3) years experience in maintaining a PC computer bulletin
board systems. Experience in operating and coordinating CD/DVD-ROM production
and one (1) year experience in maintaining full text electronic database search
and retrieval library system. Experience in developing and maintaining
PC/Windows electronic library database files and associated database
programming. Experience in developing or modifying programs written C , C++,
Microsoft Access, SQL, or other computer software used to support electronic
library operations. SECRET security clearance is required for this
position.
