The Getty Research Institute has the following employment opportunity
available in the Information Systems Department: 
  
Sr. Applications Systems Analyst
 
Working in a team structure under the direct supervision of the Head of
Information Systems at the Getty Research Institute, this position has
the responsibilities of conceptualizing, prototyping, and developing
applications for discovery/delivery, as well of writing/editing programs
to interconnect commercial, open source, and locally developed software
systems.  Works, as required, with Research Institute and other Getty
program departments, along with external vendor support staff in a
team-based approach to program and application development. Participates
in the design and implementation efforts on search architecture, data
analysis and transformation, and web application and user interface
development.  Writes well-documented programs in scripting and
enterprise class languages. 
Qualifications: BS in Computer Science or related discipline and 5- 8
years related systems experience required; solid understanding of
software development methodologies; experience in developing and testing
object-oriented software; experience with Lucene/Solr; programming
experience in scripting languages (Perl, Python, Ruby); Java development
experience; Unix/Linux development skills; relational database (MySQL,
Oracle) experience; web application and user interface development
skills using Ajax and other tools; excellent oral and written
communication skills.  Desirable skills include: Knowledge of domain
specific XML schemas (Dublin Core, MARCXML, METS); XML/XSLT skills;
knowledge of JSON; experience with RESTful web services; HTML/CSS coding
skills; open source software development experience; familiarity with
library automated systems and library workflows and practices.  Position
requires a service-oriented individual with the ability to work both
independently and as a member of a team. Excellent customer relation
skills, as well as the ability to accurately diagnose problems and
convey/communicate information to staff and vendors are required.
