The PREMIS Editorial Committee is pleased to invite you to attend a PREMIS Tutorial on Sunday 19 September, held in association with the 7th International Conference on Preservation of Digital Objects (iPRES2010) <http://www.ifs.tuwien.ac.at/dp/ipres2010/index.html> in Vienna. This full-day tutorial provides a hands-on introduction to PREMIS and its data model and an examination of the semantic units in the Data Dictionary covering objects, events, agents and rights. It presents examples of PREMIS metadata and a discussion of implementation considerations, particularly the use of PREMIS in XML and with the Metadata Encoding and Transmission Standard (METS). PREMIS implementers will discuss use cases for different types of PREMIS implementations, and will demonstrate a Web tool for generating PREMIS metadata for objects. For complete information including venue, cost, presenters, agenda and registration, see http://www.loc.gov/standards/premis/premis-tutorial-ipres2010.html.
