Director, University Libraries Enterprise Technology
University of Minnesota

The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Campus Libraries seek a visionary and experienced information technology leader to imagine, define, implement, and support the next generation of library information systems for one of the leading research institutions and libraries in the country.  The newly redefined position of Director of Enterprise Technology emphasizes innovative library service delivery as supported by large-scale system deployments and collaborations. Outreach is strengthened by unparalleled infrastructure for resource sharing and information access within the state and region provided by the University Libraries-based Minitex program.  The Libraries are a member of the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC) Center for Library Initiatives, the Center for Research Libraries, the CLIR/Digital Library Federation, and the Coalition for Networked Information, and are a founding partner in the HathiTrust.

The Libraries IT Division consists of 39 FTE staff across five departments: Enterprise Technology, Web Development, Digital Library Services, Computer Support, and Central Operations, and works cooperatively with the IT staff in Minitex.  The Division enjoys an extraordinary strategic and operational relationship with the University’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) through which a number of collaborative efforts have been launched and sustained.

The Enterprise Technology department consists of 9 FTE (including open positions) plus auxiliary staff effort from other Libraries departments and coordinate campuses.  The department provides various levels of enterprise application support for the libraries of the Twin Cities Campus and four coordinate campuses throughout the state.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field OR a Master’s degree in Library/Information Science or Business Administration/Management, as well as substantial and successful professional experience in the management of large-scale integrated enterprise systems for libraries, museums, or other environments with responsibilities comparable to this position.
