Hey Amy and all, We're a III camp here at UC San Diego too, and have been beta partners/guinea pigs for LibraryThing's mobile catalog development: http://www.librarything.com/blogs/thingology/2010/01/library-anywhere-prices-public/ It's showing a good deal of promise so far- hit me up off list if you want more detail. I think Tim (the founder of LibraryThing) is on this list, so he may have more to add. We also looked at AirPac but frankly felt it was overpriced considering all the up and coming competition. -Dan ***** Daniel Suchy User Services Technology Analyst University of California, San Diego Libraries 858.534.6819 [log in to unmask] -----Original Message----- From: Code for Libraries [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Gowing, Cheryl A. Another library that's provided their coding is the University of San Francisco. Links to both the USF and the Tri-Colleges mobile code can be found in the Innovative Users Group Clearinghouse. You will need an IUG login/password to access the Clearinghouse: http://www.innovativeusers.org/iug_clearinghouse-app We've been leaning towards trying the Tri-Colleges code. It looks to me like Arizona State may be using it as well: http://m.lib.asu.edu ; catalog: mobile.lib.asu.edu Another site we've been watching is Oregon State. It's my understanding they plan to release the code for their III catalog search. Kim Griggs, the developer at OSU has a feed you can subscribe to to be alerted when the code is released: http://github.com/griggsk/OSU-Libraries-Mobile-Catalog It doesn't look like any of these allow access to services requiring authentication [renew, request, etc.] which would be ideal. Wittenburg does seem to offer these services - it looks like through their 'normal' III patron authentication method [uername/barcode]. We use CAS authentication against the University's central store, so it's going to be interesting to see if we can get that working. So - no answers, but perhaps some additional leads for you to pursue. Right now our list of possible solutions include: - AirPac from III - does anyone have any feedback on this product? - MobileCat from the Tri-College Libraries (http://code.google.com/p/mobilecat/) - Other options? MobileCat is more attractive than AirPac because it's free, but I can't find much information of others out there who have implemented it successfully. Does anyone have feedback on either of these solutions or does anyone know of another mobile catalog option for III? Any thoughts would be most appreciated.
