My name is Daniel Cornwall. I am currently the Head of Technical and Imaging Services for the Alaska Division of Libraries, Archives and Museums. The Division is the administrative home of the Alaska State Library, the Alaska State Archives and the Alaska State Museum. My section is a beginning effort to integrate and standardize practices throughout the division with respect to creating, describing and preserving digital objects. One of our major challenges is storing and providing access to uncounted hours of audio and digital materials produced by the Alaska State Archives and Alaska State Library. These include audio recordings of Alaska's Constitutional Convention and video from the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill. Previous to my current position I was heavily involved with the Alaska State Publications program and helped spearhead a number of initiatives to capture and preserve digital content. The State Library is a partner with Archive-It. One of the tangible fruits from our participation is an archive of the web presence of Governor Sarah Palin at the time she stepped down from office. The Alaska State Library is also a member of the LOCKSS Alliance, allowing its collections of digital state publications posted to http://www.library.state.ak.us/asp/shippinglists/shippinglists.html to be harvested and stored with the LOCKSS system. Aside from my deep interest in digital materials, I also have a strong interest in distance learning and am available to help organize and/or facilitate desktop trainings and information sharing activities of the Alliance. Our division has a 100 seat Elluminate online classroom we can put to use, if needed. Looking forward to learning a lot and to the work we will do together. - Daniel ======================================= Daniel Cornwall Head of Technical and Imaging Services Division of Libraries, Archives and Museums PO Box 110571 Juneau, AK 99811-0571 Phone (907) 465-6332 Fax (907) 465-2665 E-Mail: [log in to unmask] See Division resources at http://lam.alaska.gov <http://lam.alaska.gov/> .
