To ask the obvious question: You're at a real, honest-to-god prestigious college. Why are you trolling code4lib for cheap hosting environments? If IT won't give you a piece of a machine somewhere, or at least set up a Mac running OSX, they're failing to support a critical mission of the college and someone needs to be up in arms about it.
