Director of Curation Services

The Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) at the University of Michigan provides social science data to researchers and policymakers around the world. An international organization with over 700 member institutions, ICPSR offers access to data for research and instruction, training in methods of quantitative analysis, and a data preservation service to ensure long-term availability.

The Director of Curation Services will develop and maintain a comprehensive approach to data management and digital preservation. She/he will lead a team with responsibility for policy implementation and planning across the data lifecycle, including metadata standards, repository management, digital preservation, and compliance with standards (such as Trusted Repositories Audit & Certification).  The individual selected for this position will hold a research faculty appointment in ICPSR and the Institute of Social Research.

To qualify, candidates will hold an M.A. or Ph.D. in a relevant field of study, plus five years professional experience in the field, with a minimum of two years of experience in digital archiving. A proven track record of working both independently and collaboratively in a complex and dynamic research-based environment is expected.  Proficiency with metadata standards, familiarity with social science research data, and supervisory experience are highly desirable.
