Located just outside Washington, DC, Noll Historical Consulting was established in 1999 to provide historical research, collections management, and archival services to clients such as Navigator Military Publishing, the Harvard Business School, the British Broadcasting Corporation, and the US Bureau of Engraving and Printing. While Noll Historical Consulting has provided services as diverse as researching World War II bombing raids, archiving the correspondence of leading US physicists, and lecturing at the Smithsonian on Edwardian England, it specializes in the study of the world of US Government finance and monetary development. Noll Historical Consulting has a long term relationship with the US Bureau of Engraving and Printing, running its history program, supporting the efforts of the Office of External Relations, providing historical insight to management, and researching and maintaining the Bureau's vast collection of bank notes, Treasury securities, stamps, and other items. Noll Historical Consulting has also worked with the Treasury, the Bureau of the Public Debt, and other Treasury agencies, helping them to use their history to meet their immediate needs and to plan for the future. A new position with a private consulting firm is available in the historic collections of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), Department of the Treasury. The collections of the BEP consist of original artwork, photographs, designs, engravings, and manuscript material produced at the BEP in conjunction with the design and production of stamps, currency, bonds, certificates, and other miscellaneous items from the Civil War to the present. These are housed in the Historical Resource Center (HRC) of the BEP. This open position is fulltime and will commence upon applicant's receipt of a security clearance. This is a non-Federal position. The mission of the Curator, Information Services, is to organize, maintain, and develop the Historical Resource Center library of physical and electronic resources used in research, to create systems that allow for the ready use of these resources by HRC staff and other researchers, and to oversee the answering of queries coming into the HRC. This is a chance to create wholly new information systems from the ground up. The Curator will take overall direction from the Historian and Lead Curator in the performance of his or her duties, but will largely perform them without supervision. Work will be performed on site in downtown Washington, DC, in a high-security facility.
