Requirements: Candidate must have a degree in information science, museum
studies, or another relevant field. Candidate must be computer literate, with
experience managing and assessing digital images, scanning, and working with
databases, and must have strong MS Access, MS Excel, and PhotoShop skills.

  
The successful candidate is highly organized, self-directed, detail oriented,
and accurate; able to set priorities and meet firm deadlines, and to interact
well with staff members Museum-wide; and possesses excellent written and oral
communication skills.

  
Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Head of Digital Collections and
Services, the Assistant Archivist (AA) will create and manage digital assets
to populate the Luna DAMS and Museum website, scan analog materials, create
metadata, load images and metadata into Luna, and check and maintain image and
data quality.

  
Other tasks include expediting scan requests and projects undertaken by full-
and part-time Scan Lab staff, including tracking requests in scanqueue
database, ensuring deadlines are met, and coordinating use of standards.
Candidate will also work with Photo Studio staff to manage born digital
content, plan and implement imaging and image management projects, and
undertake research into new formats and technologies as needed. The AA will
assist staff with acquiring and managing images for Museum exhibition,
publication, and public relations purposes; train museum staff and
departmental interns on image-related issues and on imaging technology use;
work with Museum departments to coordinate image needs and manage image flow;
and assist with special projects and departmental administration as needed.
