Kean, a comprehensive New Jersey state university, is seeking faculty for its
extension program in Wenzhou, China. Launched in 2012, the program is offered
temporarily on the campus of and in partnership with Wenzhou University while
the university prepares for the establishment of a full branch campus and
constructs a new campus of its own at a nearby site. For 2013, Wenzhou-Kean
University programs will comprise five baccalaureate majors: English (writing
option), Computer Science, Finance, Accounting (with emphasis on international
standards and practices) and International Business Management. All
instruction is in English for Chinese students of traditional college-entering
age (18) who have studied English throughout their primary and secondary
education and who have scored high on the Chinese national exam for English-
language proficiency.

  
Administrative Position

Director of Library (Founding Director)

  
Director to design, establish and manage library for Kean University branch
campus being built in Wenzhou, China. Scheduled for completion in 2015 and
planned as the centerpiece of the new campus, the library will comprise up to
twelve stories and provide state-of-the-art digital and physical resources to
eventually support the study, instruction and research of up to 10,000
students and faculty in business, technology, design, architecture, education
and the health sciences on both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The
library will also house and the director will also oversee social, cultural
and communication spaces such as cafes, galleries and distance-conferencing
facilities. During the period of design and construction, the director will
establish, staff and manage an interim facility first in the temporary
quarters for the university's pilot project on the campus of Wenzhou
University and then in the first buildings of the new campus as they open in
2014. Enrolling 200 undergraduate students this year in accounting, finance,
computer science and professional writing in English, the pilot project will
grow to 500 students for 2013-2014 and add a program in international business
management. It will grow to 1000 students for 2014-2015 and add programs in
marketing and design. All instruction and administrative operations are
carried out in English. ALA-accredited Master's degree in library science and
three years of professional experience as a faculty member in an institution
of higher education or an administrator in education, higher education or
related field required. Candidate must have expertise in collection
development, familiarity with database systems and related digital
technologies and significant, preferably broad management or leadership
experience in an academic library. Doctorate and/or additional master's in a
complementary field preferred.
