Mason Library at Keene State College is seeking applications for Head of
Library Systems & Emerging Technologies Librarian. This position has all
responsibilities associated with faculty rank and tenure. Under the
administrative review of the Dean of the Library, the Head of Library Systems
& Emerging Technologies Librarian leads the evaluation and implementation of
new technological services, and is responsible for the creation of policies
and procedures in support of library systems and technologies. This librarian
has responsibility for the maintenance of turnkey library systems operations,
supervises staff, is the library's webmaster, serves as liaison to vendors,
and collaborates with campus and off campus constituencies. All library
faculty serve as liaison to a number of disciplines, provides information
literacy instruction, and monitors collection development in those areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  
Administers library systems and technologies.

Supervises library systems staff.

Leads the development and implementation of Systems policies and procedures.

Prepares reports as needed, and analyzes system/user interaction and
statistics.

Oversees the daily operation of Innovative Interfaces, Inc. integrated library
system in cooperation with Keene Public Library, including but not limited to
maintenance, installation, training, and upgrades of this turnkey operation.

Manages and updates the library web site including coordinating and
implementing redesign projects with library faculty/staff and the college
webmaster.

Identifies and coordinates training of library faculty/staff in use of new and
updated software/hardware.

Participates in campus wide information technology initiatives.

Works with the Systems staff to implement information technologies for the
library's services and operations, and assesses and responds to the needs of
faculty/staff and patrons.

Coordinates system administration and maintenance of ContentDM digital asset
management, EBSCO's integrated search, and Serials Solutions 360link.

Works on digital initiatives, including an institutional repository.

Leads the evaluation and implementation of current and emerging technological
trends for the library.

Represents the Library at local, regional, and national meetings, and
conferences.

Collaborates with campus constituencies and other libraries locally,
regionally, and nationally on initiatives related to library information
technologies and applications.

In addition to the above duties/responsibilities:

  
Library Faculty Responsibilities:

  
Teaches course-related/integrated information literacy for assigned subject
areas, as well as general education classes.

Participates in the design and development of the library's course-integrated
instruction program in collaboration with the Information Literacy Librarian.

Produces and updates instructional aids, including web based resources in
designated subject areas.

Instructs patrons in locating and using the resources and services of the
library.

Participates in reference service.

Selects and evaluates library materials in liaison subject areas in
collaboration with library and discipline faculty and the Collection
Development Librarian.

Engages in professional development and scholarly activities.

Participates in library and campus-wide committees and meetings.

Supervises student staff when applicable.

Qualifications Required: ALA accredited Master's Degree in library science.
Demonstrated experience administering and working with library automated
systems software and operations, knowledge of academic library operations and
service requirements. The successful candidate will have proven
organizational, problem solving, negotiating, interpersonal and communication
skills, experience in teaching and/or library instruction and a commitment to
the ideals of information literacy and the ability to work both independently
and collegially in a rapidly changing environment.

  
Additional Desirable Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in a field
supportive of library systems work, familiarity with local area networks,
software applications, print management, Web formats including Web 2.0,
Innovative Interfaces library software, ILLIAD, ContentDM, and MARC formats.
Demonstrated ability to work in a mixed hardware/software environment, and
supervisory and leadership experience. Additional advanced subject area degree
or Library Systems educational experiences, evidence of professional
involvement, and academic library experience. This is a tenure track faculty
position and will be hired at the rank of Assistant Professor with a starting
salary of $61,720.
