Memorial University Libraries are seeking a creative and collegial librarian
with strong leadership skills and acommitment to best
practicesin the management of a large unit that is central to library
operations. Thesuccessful candidate will have a passion for
cataloguing and a clear vision for the future of resource
discoveryin academic libraries. We seek a person with the
enthusiasm, flexibility, and effective judgment necessary
tocoordinate the work and the ongoing development of 23
people (6 Librarians, 3 library‐assistant supervisorsand 14
additional library assistants) engaged in a range of cataloguing, metadata,
and authority data creationand maintenance.

The successful candidate will hold a graduate degree froman ALA accredited
programin library and information science, and have 8 years of experience
working in an academic library environment. S/he will
beproficient in MARC, LCC/LCSH, AACR2, and authority
control, and must demonstrate a strong understanding
ofcurrent and emergingmodelsincluding, but notlimited to,
RDA, FRBR, FRAD,Dublin Core, and MODS. Theideal candidate
will have substantial experience cataloguing in a traditional Integrated
Library System(ILS) anda good conceptual understanding of
next generation discovery tools. S/he will have excellent
interpersonalabilities with enthusiasm for working
collaboratively to serve the needs of the library system and the
universitycommunity. The person will have strong analytical
and problem‐solving skills and be versatile in
usingtechnology to find innovative solutions. As a
MemorialUniversity Libraries'DivisionHead, s/he will be a
strongleader and exemplify consultative practice, seek
consensus, and be comfortable leading the Division. S/he
willbe decisive in implementing processes and standardsthat
advance the BCSDivision, and the library systemasa whole.
