The University of Mary Washington is seeking an energetic, innovative person
to serve as the Assistant Systems Librarian. The person in this position is
responsible for maintaining the UMW Libraries web site (
http://libraries.umw.edu) and associated web-based applications, including
LibGuides and Chamo, the public interface with our Virtua ILS.

The Assistant Systems Librarian works collaboratively with other library staff

Under the supervision of the Systems Librarian, this librarian provides
technical support for new library initiatives and to maintain existing library
systems. Among the initiatives we anticipate undertaking in the coming years

assistance of at least on student assistant, the Systems Librarian and the
Assistant Systems Librarian provide the initial desktop support on the
Fredericksburg campus, and the two librarians work closely with the
Information Technologies department to maintain all library equipment and
services.

In addition, this librarian serves on the reference desk, including occasional
Saturday duty. The librarian serves on library and campus committees and
participates in the libraries' planning and assessment processes.

The UMW Libraries constitute the knowledge center of the university -- a
physical and virtual manifestation of the institution's mission of connected,
integrated, and engaged teaching, learning, research, and service. The UMW
Libraries are committed to supporting the University's mission of creating an
environment where students, faculty, and staff share in the creation and
exploration of knowledge in the development of their academic and professional
interests and in practicing the habits of mind necessary for life-long
learning.
