Digital Scholarship Librarian Position Summary Serves as a member of the new Center for Digital Scholarship and actively engages in support of faculty and students involved in digital scholarship. Teach credit/non-credit workshops and classes in the Libraries' instruction program. Responsibilities In Oxford, Ohio: Provide consulting to faculty and graduate students in defining and implementing digital scholarship projects; investigate new and innovative ways to create, organize, and deliver online content; serve as the developer in the building, maintenance and technical support of the Miami Digital Repository; design and teach credit/non-credit courses including activities such as developing effective teaching materials, teaching or co-teaching non-credit/credit classes both on and off campus, and engage in assessment of teaching methods and learning outcomes; design and teach workshops on digital technologies for graduate students and faculty; design and implement effective usability and assessment methods to evaluate effectiveness of digital scholarship products and services; participate in repository and technology development projects for the OhioLINK Digital Resource Commons and serve on committees and task forces as needed; work independently and with stakeholders to write grants to federal, state and local agencies to support digital scholarship activities and initiatives; demonstrate commitment to diversity in library and campus wide initiatives and serve as a liaison to the Center for American and World Cultures; participate in library and university teams and working groups. Requirements MLS or MLIS in Library Science; two years of work experience, gained concurrently or at any time, involving: Configure and customize the DSpace digital repository using the XMLUI User Interface Framework and system configuration; work with established digital library standards and technologies such as XML, XSLT, EAD, jQuery, text markup, etc.; use scripting languages (e.g. PHP) to create and maintain digital library and database-driven websites using the command-line of a LINUX/UNIX computer; data migration tasks to export, transform and import content and metadata between systems; hands-on experience in teaching and training, satisfied through paid work, volunteer activities, training, or coursework; project management experience to ensure goals and projects are completed according to scope, timeline and budget; write successful grant applications to appropriate federal or state agencies; develop and publish open source plug-ins for digital library systems; create concept sketches, flow diagrams, wire frames, and mock-ups; provide research and consultation to high-level undergraduate students; attend and present at national conferences twice per year; attend statewide meetings on a monthly basis.
