http://edudu.org/ was discussed in a session at the Portland 2013 drupalcon archived here: https://portland2013.drupal.org/session/unconsortium-next-phase-drupal-collaboration-higher-education Although not a lot has happened in this space since then, this seems like a reasonable direction to support or emulate for libraries. If such a space existed I would think that we would want it open to all sorts of libraries, archives, museums, and related entities. While modules and the like are great/needed, I think a lot of libraries end up solving the same problems over and over again in Drupal (or other CMSs) but with institutional-business-logic-imposed variations, and thus we need something that acts as either a repository viewer/directory for features exports or content type/views/panels exports, or hosts tutorials and discussion spaces for solving/adapting the common use cases like hours, exhibits, etc. But ultimately, I don't think it ends at Drupal, because config is only a fraction of our shared space, and we should be talking about things like IA, Content, and the like, all of which are shared, reusable, in need of some best practices. I did not even know about the existing Drupal libraries / module lists until your email, so thanks. One of the big challenges has been a module for library hours. We outsourced that and ended up with a solution that was not tenable. We are now looking at the opening_hours module developed for the Copenhagen Public Libraries.
