http://edudu.org/ was discussed in a session at the Portland 2013 drupalcon archived here: https://portland2013.drupal.org/session/unconsortium-next-phase-drupal-collaboration-higher-education

Although not a lot has happened in this space since then, this seems like a reasonable direction to support or emulate for libraries. If such a space existed I would think that we would want it open to all sorts of libraries, archives, museums, and related entities. While modules and the like are great/needed, I think a lot of libraries end up solving the same problems over and over again in Drupal (or other CMSs) but with institutional-business-logic-imposed variations, and thus we need something that acts as either a repository viewer/directory for features exports or content type/views/panels exports, or hosts tutorials and discussion spaces for solving/adapting the common use cases like hours, exhibits, etc. But ultimately, I don't think it ends at Drupal, because config is only a fraction of our shared space, and we should be talking about things like IA, Content, and the like, all of which are shared, reusable, in need of some best practices.

Harvard Library uses Drupal as of last summer.

I did not even know about the existing Drupal libraries / module lists until your email, so thanks.

One of the big challenges has been a module for library hours. We outsourced that and ended up with a solution that was not tenable. We are now looking at the opening_hours module developed for the Copenhagen Public Libraries.

There is also interest in an online exhibit tool, among other things.

Thanks,
Corinna

Subject: [CODE4LIB] Drupal in libraries: your help needed gathering information

Hey, all, apologies for cross posting-

Chris Evjy (Jeffco Public, Colorado) and I are putting together a
presentation about Drupal development in libraries for the upcoming
DrupalCamp Colorado conference. We could use your collective help with the
following:

*1. What communication/support/networking venues are out there for Drupal
developers in libraries? *We know about/have participated in:

-the drupal4lib mailing list
-the ALA LITA Drupal Interest Group
-the Libraries group on drupal.org: http://groups.drupal.org/libraries
-the drupalib web site: http://drupalib.interoperating.info/

...did we miss any?

*2. Does anyone know of a comprehensive, up-to-date list of
library-specific contributed modules?*

There's this one:

http://drupalib.interoperating.info/library_modules

...but it was last updated in March 2012;

And this one:

https://groups.drupal.org/libraries/modules

...which feels incomplete.

I've made a couple for trainings I've done, but they're out of date now,
too. :) Thanks in advance!

*3. Does anyone know of any installation profiles and/or Drupal
distributions that have been created for libraries,* AND: if you know of
any, have they been officially contributed back to d.o?

Also, *4: Chris and I are trying to brainstorm ideas for better
communication/collaboration regarding library-specific Drupal
development-any ideas?* Success stories to share, either in
library/non-profit/other environments? How can we promote
adoption/use/growth of Drupal in library environments? How could we better
collaborate to save one another time, and what projects/products does the
Drupal library community need? (Okay, so that was, like, questions 4-7, but
anyway.)

Thanks in advance!

Nina
