Responsibilities: Reporting to the Metadata and Digitization Operations Coordinator in the Metadata and Digitization Services (MDS) Department, the Digitization Operations Librarian will provide leadership and expertise in digitization activities for the unit. This incumbent will work closely with Special Collections and other departments to manage digital projects from inception to completion; develop and implement policies and procedures; participate in planning, goal-setting, and assessing the effectiveness of staff and operations; provide training and direction to staff in digitization routines; and keep current with new trends, standards and practices. The incumbent will also coordinate the UHDL Internship Program and work with stakeholders to promote the digital library to key audiences. This position supervises the work of 2 digitization technicians, student workers and library student interns. Librarians hold academic rank pursuant to the University of Houston Librarians' Bylaws Document. They are required to develop a record of service, scholarship, and professional involvement. Qualifications: Required: Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program; demonstrated knowledge of processes and procedures in digitization of special collections and archival materials; knowledge of scanning equipment and digitization best practices; basic understanding of metadata protocols; experience planning, implementing, and/or maintaining digital collections using a digital asset management system; ability to draft and maintain clear documentation and procedures for digital projects; capability to manage, motivate and direct staff in a team-based environment; excellent oral and written communication skills. Preferred: 1-2 years of relevant experience. Salary: $50,000 - $55,000 expected hiring range, depending on qualifications.
