Special Collections Digitization Coordinator San José State University San Jose San Jose State University's Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library supports the University's guiding principles of Spartan Pride, Unbounded Learning, Helping and Caring, Agility through Technology, and 21st Century Spaces by facilitating student learning and success, faculty teaching, research and scholarship, community engagement and creative uses of technology. In partnership with the San Jose Public Library, we provide all library users with access to information and learning resources in digital and print formats and foster lifelong learning opportunities for the entire community. The Library's Digitization Coordinator works respectfully and cooperatively with employees in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library to perform duties under general supervision, but works independently to achieve specified outcomes reporting to the Director of Special Collections, University Library. This position provides technical planning, implementation, project coordination, problem-solving, and quality control for Special Collections digitization projects. The Digitization Coordinator serves as the department's liaison to Technical Services, where the majority of the metadata creation takes place, and collaborates with the Head of Cataloging and the Associate Dean of Digital Futures on new digitization projects. This position administers the library's content management system for digital collections, CONTENTdm, works with the vendor to troubleshoot problems, and implements enhancements that add value to the collection. This position also hires, trains and supervises student assistants, oversees student scheduling and payroll; maintains the online presence of Special Collections; stays abreast of new technologies and integrates them into department practices.
