Digital Projects Librarian University of Toronto Toronto The University of Toronto Library invites applications for a Digital Projects Librarian, Scholars Portal. Scholars Portal is the digital service arm of the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL), which manages infrastructure and services that support Ontario's 21 university libraries. The Scholars Portal team, based at the University of Toronto, is made up of 24 librarians, developers, and systems staff members who support services in four broad areas: research and member services; data and geospatial services; digital collections; and digital preservation services. Reporting to the Information Architecture Librarian, and working with project teams composed of developers and librarians, the Digital Projects Librarian will contribute to the design, coding and maintenance of all Scholars Portal related services, with a special focus on support for our scholarly communications services, including Open Journals System and Open Monograph Press hosting services. The Digital Projects librarian will work to customize software and user interfaces, automate data workflows, test new software, fix bugs, and contribute to the development of documentation and the provision of support for end users. Main Responsibilities: * Develop, maintain, support, and grow our hosted OJS and OMP instances in support of publishing initiatives at OCUL member libraries by migrating data, upgrading instances, configuring plugins, and providing support to local library publishing contacts * Develop and support a variety of Drupal-based projects that support collaborative environments for OCUL and the Ask VR service * Contribute to the design and development of new iterations of the Scholars Portal Books service and the Scholars GeoPortal * Automate data workflows to support the ingest of new data sources and the transformation of content to new metadata formats * Integrate Scholars Portal services with new cloud based technologies, including OpenStack Swift Assess, test and configure new software to support digital preservation and data management services (e.g. Dataverse, Archivematica, Islandora) Qualifications: Required Qualifications: * ALA-accredited Master of Library or Information Science degree (or equivalent). * Knowledge of web development standards and accessibility issues * Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation and teamwork skills * Strong organizational and time management skills, with an aptitude in learning new technical skills * Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and across multiple departments. * Awareness of trends and issues related to scholarly communications, open access, and open source development Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will also have experience with some of the following: * At least one year's relevant professional experience, including coordinating the development of digital library projects * Defining and communicating development requirements * Project management or team leadership * Working with IT in an academic library * Using Linux and using a command line interface * Installing, maintaining and troubleshooting open-source technology.
