Job Title: DevOps Engineer Employer: Washington Research Library Consoritium Location: Prince George's Co, Maryland We are looking for a smart, creative system developer/integrator to help us transform the way we deliver software and services to our partner universities. The WRLC is a collaborative partnership with nine universities in the Washington, DC metropolitan area providing innovative and cost-effective access to shared information resources, services and expertise. The DevOps Engineer is responsible for building, enhancing, integrating and monitoring high availability information technology services responsive to the evolving needs of the WRLC partner universities. The DevOps Engineer will be using Linux and open source software extensively on a daily basis, including Drupal, Solr, and Fedora to name just a few. To manage these services we will be expanding our use of orchestration tools (eg. Ansible), containers (eg. Docker) and cloud infrastructure (eg. AWS) over the next few years. This is a great opportunity to lead or learn with us using emerging tools and best practices. A junior level candidate should have professional experience with Linux systems administration and programming, and the ability to install, configure and use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools. An important qualification is the ability and desire to independently and proactively learn and understand new technologies and applications related to academic library, higher education and scholarly research domains. The successful senior level candidate will also have experience with enterprise applications development, deployment and management in private and public cloud environments. The senior DevOps Engineer will have knowledge, skills and abilities with databases and search engines, continuous integration and deployment, and automated build and deployment orchestration tools.
