Humanities Commons, the nonprofit, open-access scholarly communication platform open to all and run by the MLA, celebrates its first birthday this week. We’re feting our 11,500 members and almost 3,800 open-access items by publishing blog posts by users, supporters, and the team all week long. Today, read project director Kathleen Fitzpatrick on the history of the project  NEH-ODH director Brett Bobley on the importance of our position contra firms "intent on selling and mining academic work", and members Martin Paul Eve on using Humanities Commons to engage with the public  Christopher P. Long on the cultivation of sustainable communities  and Jean Marie Carey on the importance of the Commons for her interdisciplinary work at https://team.hcommons.org/.
