CORRECTION TO GUEST ORGANIZATIONAL AFFILIATIONS:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Greetings Colleagues!

REQUEST FOR FEEDBACK:  We’ve just wrapped up Episode 5 of the Software Preservation Webinar Series and we are planning future software preservation programming, including in-depth interviews with researchers, developers, archivists, curators and others on their work in software preservation and curation. Please tell us what you liked, what you wanted to hear more about and where we can improve by submitting your feedback by Wednesday, June 6 COB using this Google form: https://goo.gl/forms/tuGjuVlJye4ut5f93

The recording from last week’s episode “Episode 5: Scaling Software Preservation and Emulation” is now available! You are invited to watch the recording and explore the supplementary resources provided for this episode and all previous episodes here: http://bit.ly/spwebinars-episode5

Episode 5: Scaling Software Preservation and Emulation discusses how we move forward and scale up our software preservation efforts to meet our growing preservation and access needs. Guests highlight challenges and opportunities associated with scaling an institutional software preservation program as well as scaling software preservation across institutions.

Our final episode in the Software Preservation Webinar Series, “Episode 6: Legal Possibilities for Software Preservation,” has been rescheduled as a two-part mini-series in July.

Stay tuned for registration details!

Legal Possibilities for Software Preservation will feature Special Guests: Brandon Butler (University of Virginia) and Kendra Albert (Harvard University). Additional guests may be announced in June. Research Lead and Facilitator is Jessica Meyerson (Software Preservation Network).

About the Series

The Software Preservation Webinar Series provides a survey of software preservation contexts. Each episode explores a different software preservation context by providing an overview, discussion with guest speakers (specialists in digital preservation, software studies, scholarly communication, open source software and more) and open discussion with attendees. The webinar is jointly hosted by the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) and the Software Preservation Network (SPN). Acknowledgement and sincere thanks to all of our special guests and registered attendees. Warm appreciation to series colleagues-in-arms Sarah Middleton (DPC), Paul Wheatley (DPC), William Kilbride (DPC) and all the members of SPN Training & Education Working Group: Anne-Marie Trépanier (Canadian Centre for Architecture), Sherry Lake (University of Virginia), Andi Altenbach (Studio Gang), Neil Chue Hong (Software Sustainability Institute), Elizabeth Parke (McGill University), Daina Bouquin (Harvard/Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics), Morgan McKeehan (University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill) and Julia Kim (Library of Congress).

On behalf of the SPN and DPC,
