The Indiana University Libraries seek a skilled Programmer / Analyst to join our Library Applications team to develop, implement, and maintain the web applications and assessment data processes critical to library operations. Under limited supervision from the Head, Library Applications and working closely stakeholders such as the Assessment Librarian, this position develops, tests, and maintains software and workflows to support the access, organization, and analysis of assessment and library use data, which librarians, staff, and administrators use for decision-making and accountability. This position coordinates with appropriate University-wide IT personnel and services to leverage enterprise tools and ensure that library use data is aligned with other university data sources. They also work with other members of the Library Applications team to implement and support a range of custom and open source web applications in service of the library organization.

 

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Science and three years of experience in software development and design, and implementation of relational database structures. Combinations of education and related experience may be considered.

Demonstrated knowledge of relational database design and programming, including use of MySQL, Oracle, and / or Microsoft SQL Server. Demonstrated skills in programming of complex software systems, including use of Ruby, Java, Python, and / or Perl, and use of web services APIs. Experience with XML and related technologies. Ability to work in Unix / Linux and Windows environments. Demonstrated skill in writing programs to parse / map data from one structure to another. Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of data warehouse structures, web analytics tools such as Google Analytics, and reporting tools such as Tableau. Experience with Denodo, Open Refine, and Qualtrics. Experience with academic library systems and services.
