The deadline for submitting proposals to the 2020 NC Serials Conference has
been extended to Monday, December 16, 2019.

be held on Friday, March 27, 2020 at The William and Ida Friday Center for
Continuing Education in Chapel Hill.

The Planning Committee is currently accepting proposals for presentations.
Please consider submitting a proposal addressing any aspect of the
scholarly communications field, librarianship, the serials industry, or
serials management. Submissions by any member of the community including
librarians, support staff, students, publishers, and vendors are welcome.

*Possible topics include:*
* Scholarly communications and the roles of libraries, publishers, and
vendors
* Open access publishing
* Metadata creation, maintenance, and integrity
* Library management systems, discovery layers, and new opportunities in
open systems
* Advocating for library users and responding to their needs through our
collections, workflows, and/or services
* The serials and e-resources management life cycle
* Strategies for successful license negotiations
* Projects in partnership with vendors and publishers
* Acquisition models
* Streaming media and sustainability
* Building connections with graduate students and programs in library and
information science/studies education
* Promoting and marketing collections resources
* Leveraging communication skills to build effective relationships with
stakeholders
* Professional development programs that work
* Successful project management

Proposals will require the following information:
* Contact details (including your name, organization, telephone number, and
email address)
* A short (50 words or less) biographical description for each speaker
* Presentation title
* An abstract (approximately 100 words)
* Type of program
** Presentation (45 minutes)
** Lightning talk (5-7 minutes)
** Other (please provide details)

Please note: Presenters' registration fees will be waived.

The Planning Committee will review all proposals for their content,
timeliness, relevance, and fit with the overall Conference content. The
Committee reserves the right to refocus or combine proposals as needed
(with notice) to reach a diverse audience and to maximize the use of
program time slots.
