Harvard University is looking for a Project Manager for Resource Sharing Initiatives to coordinate and facilitate the successful delivery of two high-profile, multi-institution library technology projects that will have major impacts on user experience and library operations at Harvard and beyond: implementation of the ReCAP Shared Collection Service Bus and of the BorrowDirect Shared Index. We seek an experienced project manager who approaches their work with enthusiasm, prioritizes and values communication, and thrives in complex and active stakeholder environments.

Both projects are intense collaborations with peer institutions and will require orchestration across departments within the Harvard Library, with peers at other institutions, and with commercial partner vendors who will be delivering sophisticated technology solutions. The Project Manager will serve as the liaison, facilitator, and coordinator for project working groups, partner technical staff, and stakeholder groups. This individual will be expected to identify issues proactively, resolve conflicts, escalate if necessary, and work across multiple disciplines and organizations to execute these two projects.

The successful candidate is exceptionally well-organized, action-oriented, an excellent listener, and a thoughtful communicator with a record of demonstrated success communicating effectively across all levels of an organization from entry level staff to University executives and in both technical and nontechnical contexts. This role offers an opportunity to work with a wide variety of stakeholders across the Harvard Library as well as the broader academic research library community, including librarians, technologists, administrative leaders, faculty and end users.

The Project Manager for Resource Sharing Initiatives reports to the Manager of Portfolio and Project Management in Library Technology Services, a division of HUIT. Harvard’s Library Technology Services team builds and implements solutions to fulfill the mission of the Harvard Library: to advance scholarship and teaching through the collection, creation, application, preservation, and dissemination of knowledge.

This is a fully benefited, full-time Harvard University position that has been funded for twenty-four months from the date of hire. There is the possibility of renewal, contingent on funding, University priorities and satisfactory job performance.
