Already providing a wide range of services to support learning, teaching and research at the University of Adelaide, the Library is also charged with the robust and optimal preservation of digital collections held by the University, and
enabling workface capability-building in digital preservation.
The DPC celebrates the University of Adelaide becoming its 100th Member as launches its new Melbourne office.
The DPC’s presence in Australia will enable improved access to the DPC’s program of activities for Members and digital preservation practitioners across the southern hemisphere; helping support, represent and amplify the work of a very
active digital preservation community in the region, as well as assisting institutions at all stages of maturity in the digital preservation journey.
“It is so exciting to have an Australian presence for the DPC,” says Kylie Percival, Associate University Librarian. “We are really looking forward to the future collaborative initiatives this presence will bring.”
Jaye Weatherburn, Head of Australasia and Asia-Pacific for the DPC was delighted to welcome the University of Adelaide to the Coalition saying: “The University of Adelaide team brings much expertise and passion to our active and dynamic
group of DPC Members in Australasia. We look forward to working together to take on this international challenge of digital preservation, sharing our knowledge and skills and expanding digital preservation capacity in our region.”
“Our Members are found in many different sectors, currently in fourteen countries and on five continents,” adds Juan Bicarregui, Chair of the DPC. “They represent global corporations, national and local memory institutions, higher education
and research institutions, broadcasters, strategic investors and funding bodies and professional bodies.”

Adelaide and reaching a milestone of 100 members is an incredible achievement and I am delighted to celebrate the work and contributions of each and every single one of these remarkable organizations and individuals.”
The University of Adelaide joins the DPC’s new Stakeholder Group, formed as part of its governance structure with the opening of the Melbourne Office. The Stakeholder Group will ensure that Members in Australia, New Zealand and surrounding
areas inform the development of the DPC’s program in the region and have input to the broader strategic direction of the Coalition.
Any Australasian organization that joins the DPC through our office in Melbourne, before 31st July 2020 may benefit from an additional 10% discount (when taking out three-year Membership).
The not-for-profit DPC is an international advocate for digital preservation, helping Members around the world to deliver resilient long-term access to digital content and services through community engagement, targeted advocacy work, training
and workforce development, capacity building, good practice and standards, and through good management and governance. Its vision is a secure digital legacy.
