Greetings:

This email is intended to update the community on the current and future work of the DLF AIG Content Reuse Working Group<https://wiki.diglib.org/Assessment:User/Reuse>. The group is in its second year of a grant project, titled “Digital Content Reuse Assessment Framework Toolkit (D-CRAFT)<https://reuse.diglib.org/home/d-craft/>“, awarded in July 2019 by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) (LG-36-19-0036-19<https://www.imls.gov/grants/awarded/lg-36-19-0036-19>). Those interested in learning more about the project can see the DLF Blog post “Introducing D-CRAFT.”

D-CRAFT builds from the successful Developing a Framework for Measuring Reuse of Digital Objects<https://reuse.diglib.org/home/measuringreuse/> (Measuring Reuse) project, an IMLS grant initiative (LG-73-17-0002-17), which ran from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018.

Content Reuse Working Group in 2021

The team is working on activities that will generate core content for D-CRAFT. These include:

  * Ethical Considerations and Guidelines for the Assessment of Use and Reuse of Digital Content<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CkPTgF7ftVpdej2tIeXEb-Ngr71ulPJA0KCfQeh4g2M/edit#heading=h.tjajb9k0zbwx>, which will address key principles for responsibly assessing reuse, including indigenous and underrepresented communities’ concerns and ideas, as well as user privacy.
  * Reuse Assessment Recommended Practices, which will aggregate tools and resources and compile existing strategies for assessing various facets of digital object reuse.
  * Education and Engagement Tools, which will include tutorials and quick start guides that provide examples and templates to demonstrate practical implementation of the recommended assessment practices.

How can you participate?

The D-CRAFT project is currently seeking community input on a draft of the Ethical Considerations and Guidelines for the Assessment of Use and Reuse of Digital Content<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CkPTgF7ftVpdej2tIeXEb-Ngr71ulPJA0KCfQeh4g2M/edit#heading=h.tjajb9k0zbwx> through February 3rd.

As the team completes more project objectives, it will continue to seek the input of communities. This valuable exchange will ensure that the deliverables from the project can be utilized by stakeholder communities to address topics related to reuse of digital assets. The D-CRAFT project team will release calls for public comment on prominent listservs as well as via its webpage<https://reuse.diglib.org/home/d-craft/>.
