Ever wanted to learn about JAWS, the screen reader?
The DLF Accessibility’s Advocacy and Education group is hosting a learning session on Thursday, February 25th at
2:00pm eastern. Zoom details are in this email
I’m a sighted Canadian librarian who is JAWS certified and am training for sightless navigation. I’ll share some lessons I’ve learned along the way. For example, screen readers don’t actually read screens! And
if you’ve ever played Super Mario Brothers or similar side-scrolling video games, you have a great metaphor to draw on!
Daniella Levy-Pinto will be participating. Daniella has been a JAWS user for more than two decades in academic and professional settings. She is the projects coordinator for the National Network for Library Service
(NNELS) and works to eliminate barriers and foster inclusive design. NNELS maintains a repository of digital accessible books, and works with publishers, librarians and others to improve accessibility of the Canadian publishing and reading landscape.
If you are a screen reader user, please come. It would be great to share the platform and compare notes.
