The ACRL/RBMS Guidelines Regarding Security and Theft in Special Collections <https://www.ala.org/acrl/standards/security_theft> are in the process of being revised. These guidelines are used by special collections and archival repositories across the United States and currently encourage punitive action to safe-guard collections, spaces, & staff.
