With very many thanks to our colleagues in Beijing for hosting a tremendous iPres 2021 conference, we are now excited to look ahead to the coming year as the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) warmly invites you to join us in Glasgow for iPres 2022, between 12th – 16th September.

What to expect

Digital preservation is a shared challenge, and it’s the challenge the DPC has faced since our foundation 20 years ago. Now in 2022, it is our privilege and our very great pleasure to invite you to join us as we celebrate twenty years together, in our home city of Glasgow, at the International Conference on Digital Preservation, iPres 2022.

Over the course of five days, between 12th and 16th September 2022, for delegates participating in person the conference will take place at the purpose built Technology & Innovation Centre in the heart of Glasgow, and those joining remotely will have access to a substantial online program.

Digits for all, for good and forever: Let Digits Flourish

iPres 2022 adapts the motto of the host city, ‘Let Glasgow Flourish’, and will be structured loosely around key themes and moments in the City’s history. It invites reflection and debate on how digital preservation can support flourishing communities, ecologies and economies and ideas.  Consequently, the conference theme: ‘Digits for all, for good, for ever’ has the subtitle Let digits flourish. The conference has five core themes:

Tell us what YOU want from an iPres Conference

We want to hear from the iPres community about the conference themes as well as the different conference activities. We’ve opened a Community Consultation that will remain open until 8th November, when the programme committee will discuss the comments received.

You’ll find the link to the Community Consultation on our brand new iPres 2022 website: www.ipres2022.scot

Want more information?

The new iPres 2022 website: www.ipres2022.scot is the place to find all the information you will need to plan your participation our next conference including key dates, everything you need to know about visiting Glasgow and – when it’s ready – it’s the place to come for submission, registration and program information.

In our News section, we’ll share all of the conference developments as they unfold, links to the monthly iPres 2022 newsletter, as well as showcasing the best bits of our home city through the blog. We’ll also bring back the ‘WhyPres’ blog so you can share the best moments and ideas that have kept you engaged in iPres over the years; and we’ll hear from first timers who haven’t had the chance before but are keen to find out more.

Our gift to you

We’ve assembled a playlist of songs and music associated with Scotland on Spotify. You’ll find the link to this on the conference website too. We hope it will keep you company and bring good cheer as you work on your proposals and set off on your journey.

It’s a gift you can share with us in return. We’ve opened the play list for your own suggestions and additions. We’ll share a bit of Scotland with you and in return we invite you to share a bit of your home with us.

Ceud měle fŕilte – A hundred thousand welcomes.

We look forward to seeing you in Glasgow in 2022.
