DLF Digest: March 2022

 

A monthly round-up of news, upcoming working group meetings and events, and CLIR program updates from the Digital Library Federation.

This month’s news:

• It’s here! Calls for proposals for the 2022 DLF Forum, Learn@DLF, NDSA’s Digital Preservation 2022: Preserving Legacy, and CLIR’s Digitizing Hidden Collections Symposium are now open through Monday, April 25! Read on about this year’s opportunities, including how to submit your proposal on the DLF Forum blog. We hope you’ll join us in Baltimore this fall!
• The HBCU Library Alliance and DLF invite participation in the Authenticity Project, a fellowship program that provides mentoring, learning, and leadership opportunities for early- to mid-career library staff from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The organizations are seeking fellowship applicants as well as volunteer mentors, with both opportunities open until March 15, 2022. See the program announcement for more information.
• CLIR is now accepting applications for Leading Change Institute (LCI), New Zealand, to be held in Wellington, New Zealand, September 12-17, 2022. Intended to serve primarily participants in New Zealand and the Pacific Rim, LCI New Zealand is the first international extension of the US-based Leading Change Institute. The application deadline is April 18, 2022.

This month’s DLF group events:

DLF Data and Digital Scholarship Working Group – Collections as data: institutional possibilities and collective opportunities (joint meeting with RLUK DSN)

Tuesday, March 22, 11 am ET/8 am PT; https://dsn-dds-march.eventbrite.co.uk  

 

This highly interactive session will follow three successful joint meetings between members of DLF’s Data and Digital Scholarship working group (DDS) and RLUK’s Digital Scholarship Network (DSN).  

The meeting will explore the topic of ‘collections as data’ with speakers from across the US and UK research library and information communities. It will also include opportunities to meet with fellow professionals, share skills and knowledge, hear from skills experts, and receive updates regarding the continued collaboration between the DDS and DSN.

 

Speakers will include:

• Sarah Ames, Digital Scholarship Librarian, National Library of Scotland
• Lauren Tilton, Assistant Professor, Richmond School of Arts and Sciences 
• Thomas Padilla, Senior Director of Collections, Technology, and Partnerships, Center for Research Libraries

 

You do not need to have attended a previous joint meeting in order to attend this session, and the meeting is open to the DLF and DSN communities. Although a free event, all attendees are required to register.
